Accessibility statement

Hotel Zum Riesen is committed to making our website and booking journey usable by everyone, regardless of ability. This statement describes how we approach accessibility standards and how to reach us if you encounter a barrier.

Standards we conform to

• ✓ WCAG 2.1 Level AA across the guest-facing website and booking flow.
• ✓ EN 301 549 v3.2.1 — the harmonised EU standard referencing WCAG 2.1 AA.
• ✓ European Accessibility Act (Directive 2019/882) — binding for EU e-commerce services since 28 June 2025.
• ✓ German BFSG — national transposition of the EAA.
• ✓ BFSG-ready guest journey with keyboard access, visible focus states, and semantic navigation patterns.

How we verify conformance

• Automated axe-core tests on every component story and every E2E page path.
• Quarterly manual audits with NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, 200% zoom, and high-contrast mode.
• Annual external audit by an independent certified firm.
• Public conformance report published in this page every year.

Known issues

As of the last audit (2026-03-12), we know of two areas that do not fully conform:

• Legacy property PDFs. A small number of tenant-uploaded PDFs predate our automated conversion and may not have full tagging. We are re-tagging these through 2026 Q2.
• Third-party map tiles. Our map provider does not expose sufficient labels for screen readers in the satellite view. A table alternative is available on every map page.
